Confusing beer ad of the day (part deux)

OK, I snapped this beauty near the agency offices today. It’s for Heineken Light. Let me try and decode it for you. The headline reads THINK INFINITY POOL VS INFLATABLE POOL. And the tagline reads GIVE YOURSELF A GOOD NAME.

OK, now I may be wrong but I’m guessing a good portion of the receptive audience for this beer ad (under 25) have no idea what an infinity pool is. And consequently will be in a poor position to compare it to an inflatable pool. And even if they did know, they are being asked to compare it to an inflatable pool. Which is laughable. That’s no contest! Infinity pool every time. Those things are awesome! Inflatable pools are for little kids.

So presumably Heineken Light is the infinity pool and all other light lagers are inflatable pools. Now that’s a strange thing to say. What a weird thing to say. Imagine if someone walked up to you on the street holding a bottle of Heineken Light, pointed at it and uttered the words “THINK INFINITY POOL VS INFLATABLE POOL!” And then said “Give yourself a good name.” And walked away. You would think they were crazy. Charles Manson crazy.

  1. Maybe they are going for the esoteric? I heard they drink like pussies. Light indeed!

  2. Think Beer vs Light Beer

  3. But Charles Manson was charismatic and had a small but very loyal following. What brand wouldn’t want that kind of dedication?

  4. true. he was a charmer was old charlie.
