Sometimes strategy and creative execution can be one. But not always.

This is definitely one of my favorite ads of all time.

It was a very fresh take on the diet soda category.

It’s tempting to hail this as a triumph of strategy simply because it’s a bit cerebral.

Ever notice how ad campaigns with a very identifiable and singular thought at their core tend to get retrofitted with brilliant and thoughtful strategies when they become hits?

When, as we all know, the idea was usually the product of frantic desperation and conceived, probably under great duress, a lot closer to the meeting than we’d like clients to think.

Winking smiley face.

Get your frying pan out. It’s Diet Tango!
