I live across the street from the elementary school where my kids go to school.
And in the backyard of the school they have a huge political map of the USA.
Which in itself is a great idea.
I was over at the school with my kids and their pals the other day.
And they were playing “state tag”.
State Tag is a game based on this huge painted map. The state declared by the “it” person is the “safe” state. The only state where the non “it” players can hide.
I casually asked my kids if this game was the intent of the map. If they had been taught the game at school.
And they replied no. The game was the kids’ idea.
But the whole game is predicated upon, and necessitates, a complete knowledge of the geographical location of all 49 (or is it 51?) states of the USA.
I’m guessing the school figured out that painting a huge map of the USA on the schoolyard floor would lead to a game of some sort. I hope so.
But I also am constantly amazed at how adept kids are turning anything into a game.
The innate creativity of kids is a wonderful thing.
Their minds aren’t poisoned by society yet.
Which is exactly why they must be crushed!!!
