I have a rather ambiguous relationship with Paddy’s day.
One, nobody goes all in on it back home like they do here.
Irish people are actually a bit unsure what to after the mass and parade.
And so kind of wander in bovine fashion to the pub afterwards.
Two, it feels like a green halloween.
An excuse to get drunk.
Something that is redundant in Ireland.
The Irish don’t drink a lot because we like to drink. That would be all the eastern European countries ;-)
The Irish drink noticeably more because the Irish like to talk noticeably more too.
We have a bit of a flair for the dramatic.
And, like our Italian cousins, can be a tad emotional.
Which is why this is the best Paddy’s day thing ever.
