Recently we at The Escape Pod came into contact with the American star of tw of the UK’s most unusual TV comedies, The Mighty Boosh and Snuff Box. Rich has a book coming out on Oct. 7 in the UK. It’s called Tiny Acts of Rebellion. In it, Rich suggests a myriad of ways in which we can all stick it to the man in small but satisfying ways.
To promote the book Rich had the idea of doing a flashmob. But instead of dancing around a trainstation, Rich wants to assemble an army of Tiny Rebels in front of enormous London clock Big Ben and tell it to fuck off. And he wanted to enlist our help in creating a recruitment website, doing a press ad, creating a logo for the event etc.
Two of us here at The Escape Pod, myself and Welsh art director Allan Stevenson, are ardent fans of The Boosh and so dove right in. WE WERE WORKING WITH RICH FULCHER!!! It was a true labor of love. And Rich, it turns out, is a very smart and nice guy. Insane Mighty Boosh Zoo owner Bob Fossil is purely a creation, I was relieved to find out.
We came into contact with Rich via Facebook of all places. I posted a video of Rich doing one of his most famous bits and pointed out to my mostly Chicago facebook friends that Rich is a Chicago native and is famous in the UK. A facebook friend, Dave Gassman, said that Rich was actually a friend of his (in real life!) and that Rich had a book coming out and would I be interested in helping out.
And that’s why I don’t like cricket!
Anyway, here is the website we created. And this is the logo we created.
And here is the print ad.
We also created this logo/twitter avatar.
Good luck with flashmob Rich. If you’re in London on Oct. 7 please go along and tell that smug clock what you really think of it.
